This Coming Week’s Life Science Events and September Picks of the Month

It’s time to check out your calendar for the coming week. BTW, if you had an appointment with me , please remind me as I left my pocket calendar at another location. I reconstructed last week’s events very easily but have not been as fortunate for this coming week.

But I haven’t forgotten the free upcoming Bio2Device Group meeting at 8:30 am Tuesday, Sept. 1st. I was able to recruit Kara Halvorsen, Principal, Kara Halvorsen Consulting, LLC to speak to us on the topic “Launch/Relaunch Your Life Sciences Industry Career.” This talk is for all of us, not only those planning a job/career change or currently in transition, but also those who recognize the importance of continuing to grow in skills and knowledge so we’re ready for the “next bend or turn in our career road”. The focus will be how to see ourselves as the “product” and conduct a “personal product launch” to refresh our career or refocus a job search. I guarantee you’ll get an extremely valuable perspective on approaching your career planning from this talk.

Starting at 10:00 am, Harry Wachob, Board President and Sharon Lewis, Board VP, (who have spearheaded the creation of a new, first class website with the Board for B2DG) will launch the new site. So note the usual program at 8:30-10:00 am and then the special session to introduce the new website and answer questions about its tremendous power for you.

Wednesday, Sept. 2nd, is the once-a-year opportunity for newcomers to attend the Bay Area Business Development Roundtable. Although the deadline was Aug. 24th, I was able to register via email on Friday. Remember this invitation is only for those active in deal-making and partnering, and note this is not a sales development professional organization.

Thursday, Sept. 3rd is another fine and free Triple Ring Technologies meeting.Tom Rusch, Co-founder and VP of Technical Outreach, Xoft Inc. is the speaker.

I also call your attention to the deadline for the discount for my upcoming 2-day UCSC Ext.Bioscience Business and Marketing Essentials course Thursday and Friday, Oct. 8-9, 2009 on Sept. 24th. This is an extremely popular course to teach you how to do research, analysis, make recommendation and decision in all functions of business and marketing management and practice your skills doing project with access to industry databases. The instructor, yours truly, and 3 guest speakers are experts in doing due diligence, market research and helping company management make decisions to achieve successful product selection and development. See the  flyer with more details.

The selected September meetings is available in downloadable Word format here
