Audrey’s Life Science Meeting Picks Through Jan. 2010

Most organizations are closing down for the balance of December but there are a few affordable events this week. Remember I rarely list the high ticket items unless they are very unique. The new listing includes familiar organizations and their events in January 2010. Be sure to check out information regarding the Free Program Overviews at UCSC Ext. for Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Bioscience Business and Marketing courses on Jan. 11th and Clinical Monitoring and Regulatory programs on Jan. 13th. Also see the many courses which start in January and will disappear from the list in February. The long standing favorite winter evening format of Bioscience Product Marketing starts on Feb. 11th.

Then see previews of all the Bio2Device Group, Northern California Chapters of AWIS, BayBio Therapeutic and Medical Device breakfasts, returning BayBioNEST, and BioScience Forum meetings as well. In the next report I’ll be providing details of the upcoming JP Morgan Healthcare Conference free webcasts so you can listen in to the CEO presentations of 300 companies in our industry being delivered in San Francisco the week of Jan. 11th.

Here’s this week’s events:

• Bio2Device Group, Tuesday Morning, Dec. 15, 2009, Event: Special Holiday Networking Event, TIPS Facility (our normal Evening Meeting Facility), 1000 Newell Rd., Palo Alto, Registration required

• GABA, Tuesday Lunchtime, Dec. 15, 2009, Topic: “New Solutions for the Medical Arena – The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute and Its Latest Developments” o Speakers: o Prof. Hans-Joachim Grallert, Managing Director Heinrich Hertz Institute o Ulrich Leiner, Dept. Head Interactive Media, Heinrich Hertz Institute o Juergen Rurainsky, Dept. Image Processing, Heinrich Hertz Institute

• BioScience Forum, Wednesday Evening, Dec. 16, 2009, Topic: “The Discovery of Novel Boron-Containing Antimicrobial Agents”, Speaker: Jake Plattner, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Research, Anacor Pharmaceuticals

Have a great holiday season. I’ll be taking a break from the meeting updates until January. Here’s the downloadable list MeetingListDec.14_09

It’s a good time to recharge your batteries and remember who you are and what you are about–chart your course for the new year. I’ll be taking a break from my weekly emails to do the same. It’s a good time to take stock of our personal career plan as well as reconsider our personal mission in life beyond our career and consider what are the most important uses of your time. With whom do we want to spend our time and where do we want to focus our talents?

Warm holiday wishes, Audrey
