San Diego Cluster VC Funding Grows plus Jobs That Crossed My Desk

While the stock market is expressing wild swings and biotech, volatility as well, there’s one positive report  for California life science professionals. Further analysis of life science quarter two VC funding shows San Diego was up while nationally, life science investments were down 3 percent in the second quarter of 2011 vs. same quarter in 2010. Company “exits” via mergers, acquisitions and IPOs freed up cash for new investments. “Such deals let VC investors cash out their holdings in life science companies and reinvest the money in other companies,” said Tracy Lefteroff, global managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers‘ venture capital practice.
