California Biomedical Industry Status plus Bay Area Events and Jobs

If you are among industry professionals wondering how the Great Recession of 2008 and its aftermath is impacting on California life science companies and employment in the sectors, there’s a chance to read up on subject and hear a free webcast of a panel discussing the findings of recent research. The California Biomedical Industry 2012 Report  researched and authored by the California Healthcare Institute, PWC and BayBio was released on Wednesday.  You can also see video and other related materials on the same page of the BayBio website by right clicking on the report title.  BIOCOM released their first annual economic report separately a day earlier. The former covers the entire state with findings on employment, investment, productivity and federal funding of California innovation. The latter focuses on only four counties of Southern California, including San Diego but now additionally, Orange, Riverside, and Imperial Counties.

I found the tone of reports to be distinctly different with the latter’s more in style of positive PR promoting their cluster while the former CHI report sounds more objective in reporting threats as well as positive news regarding California’s industry, the economy, FDA regulatory hurdles and declining funds available to fund innovation.

See below the highlights of upcoming events this week, including the aforementioned webcast,  and read all the details in Audrey’s Picks list which includes events through April. You can also download Jobs That Crossed My Desk by right clicking on the highlighted title.
