Life Science Career and Salary Surveys Plus Events and Jobs

This year’s annual Medical, Marketing and Media salary survey was released in October. The article entitled “Career and Salary Survey: In Check,” Oct. 2014 shows that all salaries are down by 5.5% with pharma salaries down by 2.9% and agencies, down 11.2%. An industry gender gap persists with women earning only 75% of what men earn. A more worrying number is the loss of 160,000 pharma jobs since the last decline in average salary in 2009. Read the results with comparisons by gender, market sector, company revenue and positions at

The most recent salary survey in medtech is “Medtech Salary Survey 2013: A Sneak Peek” by Jamie Hartford, posted in Medical Device Business, Nov. 5, 2013. See snapshot at See additional comments in report dated Nov. 27, 2013.

Salaries were up 5% as well as the number of employees in 2013. After declining 8.4% in 2012, the average number of full-time employees at medtech firms climbed 13.2% in 2013. Positions in quality and regulatory affairs have the biggest salary increases while salary and total compensation in general and corporate management fell. See salary data comparison at Whether or not changes in 2013 are a trend or not will be clarified with 2014 data expected to be published next month.
