Whatever Happened to Campaign Promise to Invest in Infrastructure?

Whatever Happened to Campaign Promise to Invest in Infrastructure?

We all know that money for infrastructure is what would drive creation of lots of new, good paying jobs and place money directly in the pockets of middle and working class Americans as well as improvs essential infrastructure. Such actions in the past have proven to increase the economy. Unfortunately, Republicans wouldn’t fund the plans of Obama to make this a major part of overcoming the economic disaster that he inherited from his predecessors.  This is a campaign promise noticeably not kept by “45.”

Instead the Republican administration is obsessed with increasing the debt a trillion and a half dollars to increase income of big corporations and less than one percent of citizens. We have experience with trickle-down economics and what corporations do with low taxed access to huge income secreted overseas. They don’t create jobs! They buy back their stock and give their executives bigger bonuses.

Unfortunately, Republicans feel obligated to give huge payouts to their billionaire donors to their campaigns so they can return to power. They have become frightened that they must pass this terrible payout to those who are awash in funds already and have no plan to invest it in our country infrastructure or American workers in form of higher pay. They are still determined to pay for this giveaway to the wealthy off the backs of our citizens and those least able to pay increased taxes and rising health insurance.

As soon as they pass this bill, there will be outcry that the deficit is too high on part of conservative Congressmen who will demand citizens must take large cuts in essential social services to pay for it. There won’t be any money for infrastructure, education, social welfare including Medicaid and Medicare. You just need to look at the failure to renew CHIP funding that expired the end of September to verify the intent to rob the people to indulge the wealthy—a reverse Robin Hood scheme. Their outrageous plans for health care reform turned out to be deprivation not improvement.

What has happened to morality among the wealthy and large corporations? The Resistance to all these greedy plans to destroy our society, democracy and further impoverish our citizenry is absolutely essential but exhausting.

Call your representatives and get involved in pushing back against these robber barons.
